Kartikey, AcceleratiON Trainee at BMW Group India, is driven by innovation, authenticity and a strong emotional connection to the BMW brand. As part of the AcceleratiON Programme, he is currently completing his first international rotation in Munich – working today on the mobility solutions of tomorrow. In this interview, Kartikey shares what motivates him, what he values most about BMW Group and why he sees his long-term future with the company.

How Trainee Kartikey shapes the future at BMW Group.
What appealed to me most was the strong presence of the BMW brand and the emotional attachment people have to it. BMW is more than just cars – it’s a brand that stands for innovation, passion and pride. You can really feel that connection when you talk to people, whether they work at BMW or are simply fans of the brand. That sentiment played a big role in my decision to join.
You’re part of the AcceleratiON Trainee Programme.
What makes this programme special for you?
"What motivates me on a daily basis is that my work is not only about what we’re doing right now, but about what we want to achieve five years down the line. Knowing that I’m contributing to future solutions gives my work a deeper meaning. The AcceleratiON Programme also constantly challenges me to step out of my comfort zone, stretch myself and grow professionally. At the same time, it has helped me build a strong global network – something that will stay with me throughout my career at BMW Group."
Your homebase is India and you’re currently working in Munich.
How are you experiencing this international rotation?
"This is my first international rotation, and it’s been an incredibly enriching experience – both professionally and personally. Working in Munich allows me to experience BMW Group from a global perspective and collaborate with colleagues from all over the world. What I miss most from India, though, are definitely the people. Our team back home is quite small, but incredibly determined, supportive and driven by a strong can‑do mentality. That spirit has shaped me a lot and continues to inspire me, even while working abroad."
My biggest lesson is: Never stop innovating. Innovation is deeply embedded in BMW’s DNA – and it’s not limited to technology alone. It’s about constantly questioning the status quo, staying curious and having the courage to try new things.

What helped you succeed in the application process?
"Authenticity played a big role for me. I think it really helped that I stayed true to myself and clearly showed my passion for my field of interest. BMW Group values individuality and being genuine about your motivation and goals can really make a difference."
