The high level of complexity in vehicle construction and the numerous vehicle functions enable the diverse use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at BMW. Since my PhD thesis – which I wrote in an interdisciplinary environment of Vehicle development, AI and Psychology – I have been fascinated by a wide range of issues that can be solved using AI methods. These issues originate from the most diverse sectors, such as Recruiting, Production or Development, and therefore offer a high degree of data diversity. It is precisely this tension between data diversity and different issues that makes working at the BMW Group so versatile for me.

Independently, but also as part of a strong, international and very diverse team, we as product owners face exciting challenges every day. After all, our aim is to develop end-to-end solutions in addition to using new technologies. This means we accompany the entire process, starting with an introduction to the field of AI, via the identification of use cases to the final implementation and industrialisation of software solutions. Therefore, collaboration, trust and mutual reinforcement play an essential role and drive us to push forward innovations in terms of digital sovereignty every day.
