We, the BMW Group, offer you an exciting and diverse internship in occupant safety development. Our team explores innovative workflows to optimize design parameters for enhanced occupant protection. During your internship, you'll gain hands-on experience in developing semi-rigid automotive seats and contribute to meeting BMW’s high safety standards.
What awaits you?
- You will support defining an objective function to align a generic semi-rigid seat with BMW's occupant safety requirements.
- Furthermore, you help to apply numerical optimization processes to improve seat design parameters based on the defined objective function.
- In addition, you contribute to validating the effectiveness of optimized seat designs through computational simulations and, if needed, empirical testing.
- Moreover, you will assist in creating a replicable workflow for optimizing seat parameters to reduce development time and costs.
- You will also help to collaborate with our experts and present your findings and recommendations.
What should you bring along?
- Studies in mechanical engineering, mathematical engineering or a related field.
- Good skills in numerical optimization techniques.
- Good knowledge in finite element analysis and computational mechanics, experience with LS-DYNA or similar software is a plus.
- Any knowledge of occupant injury criteria is an advantage.
- Fluent English, good German is a plus.
