Opening Ceremony of the BMW Group Training Center in Hungary.

Training Center opened at BMW Group plant in Debrecen.

We have opened the Training Center at our plant in Debrecen. We are investing more than one billion euros in the site, where series production for the first all-electric model of the Neue Klasse will start in 2025. The education and training of highly qualified employees is of particular importance for us, which is why 100 students started training in the new 6,500m² state of the art Training Center. By 2025, the number of trainees will rise to a total of up to 300. This makes it one of the largest apprentice training programs in all of Hungary.

Sustainability of the future starts today: BMW Group Plant Debrecen joins an environmental awareness event for students in Debrecen.

The environmental education programme titled ‘Be Environmentally Conscious, Prevent Waste’ was held in Debrecen for primary and secondary school students for the second time. The all-day event aimed to raise awareness among the younger generation concerning the importance of environmentally conscious mindset. In 2023, BMW Group Plant Debrecen joined the initiative as main sponsor.

BMW Group Plant Debrecen Groundbreaking 2022.

The first class is ready: the best apprentices have been chosen to start their dual training at BMW Group Plant Debrecen from September.

207 applicants, 7 days, 4 vocations, countless successfully completed tasks, and finally 100 selected apprentices: this is the past period of the Training Centre in numbers. The first class of technicians participating in the three-year dual training programme will start their courses in the right-then opened Training Centre in September 2023.

High quality healthcare at the BMW Group Plant Debrecen, even before the start of production.

Creating a healthy working environment and maintaining the health of employees is a top priority for the BMW Group. This is why the BMW Group has also made it a priority to establish a high-quality health centre at the BMW Group Plant Debrecen as soon as possible. The Health Centre, which is currently temporarily housed in a container building, started operations on 1 June 2022.

The events of the pentecostal long weekend ended with great success.

During the long Pentecostal weekend, tens of thousands of visitors could meet our colleagues at the Debrecen Drive and at the World Championship race held at the Perényi Pál Slag Motor Stadium. At our custom-designed outdoor booth, we filled out almost a thousand questionnaires and we were pleased to see how interested visitors are in our iFactory currently under construction, and follow the news about it.

ESMT Berlin and the BMW Group are partnering to offer ten full-tuition scholarships for the September 2023 intake of the ESMT Global Online MBA. This program aims to nurture a new generation of leaders who will drive innovation, sustainability, and positive change in business and society in the future.

The construction of BMW Group Plant Debrecen has entered a spectacular phase: driving along the M35 motorway, one can now see as the buildings are gradually taking shape.

Debrecen. The construction of first buildings of future BMW Group Plant Debrecen starts as planned. Péter Szijjártó, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the mayor of Debrecen, Dr László Papp, and Hans-Peter Kemser, managing director of BMW Group Plant Debrecen, were informed onsite about the status of construction works.

BMW Group takes over site for new plant in Debrecen.

Munich/Debrecen. Preparations for the future BMW Group plant in Debrecen, Hungary have reached another important milestone. Following successful preparation of the land by the City of Debrecen, the BMW Group will take official possession of the land by the end of May. Péter Szijjártó, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the mayor of Debrecen, Dr László Papp, presented Michele Melchiorre, head of BMW Group Plant Debrecen, the results of the site preparation. With today’s presentation, the official handover process is started and will be finalized by end of May.

Cooperation agreement between the BMW Group and the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre (DSZC).

Since the announcement of the opening of the new plant in Debrecen, the BMW Group has given particular attention to the need to create vocational training opportunities for the region's population. Since July this year, the Bavarian company has been working with the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre (DSZC), one of the region's most important vocational training institutions. Their program promoting dual vocational training also targets primary schools – in this spirit, an open day attracting more than 500 interested visitors was organized this week.

Construction of the new BMW Group Plant in Debrecen to start in spring 2020.

Preparations for the construction of the new BMW Group plant in Debrecen are proceeding according to plan. The municipality of Debrecen is currently preparing the site for the new plant in the northwestern industrial park.
