As Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade together with BMW Group, announced in summer 2018, the BMW group is building its new factory in the North-Western Industrial Area in Debrecen. The worldwide company signed the first contracts related to the investment last October in Debrecen.

According to the agreement in October, at the biggest industrial site of Debrecen, almost 400 thousand cubic meter open-bed ditch and a 145 thousand long closed water-table had to be built. More than 1 Million cubic meter mould had to be bored and diverted on the area, than almost 600 thousand cubic meter soil stabilisation material was needed to make the surface even.

The land preparation works are going just as planned. The development area will be owned competely by the company in instalments, by next spring.

Michele Melchiorre, Managing Director BMW Manufacturing Hungary Ltd.: “Today's contract signing for the Sales and Purchase Agreement is another important milestone for the construction of our production site in Debrecen. The City of Debrecen and the EDC have been preparing the site for months now. It is very impressive what already happened onsite. For our future plant skilled workforce is the foundation to achieve the highest quality of our premium products. And I can tell you proudly: first hiring was very successful and since August our first four Hungarian colleagues have joined the project team.”
