Our Internship Program allows undergraduate and graduate students to work for one time period (spring, summer, or fall) in order to explore their career choices while gaining valuable experience. This enables you to test your career choices while gaining valuable experience in a professional environment. Our interns are used in areas where special projects are assigned.  

Perhaps you are a domestic or an international student who is currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master Degree program, or perhaps you are considering a work experience year. Our program is designed to complement your theoretical studies and support your professional development by providing you with real hands-on experience of working as part of a dynamic team in your chosen field.

REQUIREMENTS.

The program is open to students who are currently enrolled in a Bachelors or Master’s program, or have graduated no more than 12 months prior to internship start date.

Our Internship program is primarily available at our headquarters BMW of North America in Woodcliff Lake (NJ), with limited internship opportunities available at other locations throughout the United States. Mountain View (CA), Oxnard (CA) and Schaumburg (IL).

Qualified candidates for Domestic Internships positions will be enrolled full-time at an accredited 4 year university or college in the United States and pursuing a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree. Additional requirements include:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (transfer students must have GPA from current school)
  • Completion of three semesters towards the degree by the start of the work term
  • At least 1 remaining term in school after the completion of the Internship
  • Enrollment with the university Career Services office
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical and substance abuse test
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident status

DISCOVERING HOW TO BUILD THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE STARTS WITH OUR INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM.

For students currently attending a university outside the United States, we also offer an international internship program at BMW manufacturing plant Spartanburg. This would allow an international student to gain experience in a manufacturing environment within the United States. Our international interns are used in areas where special projects are assigned for a 6 month rotation. We have internship opportunities available during the spring and fall sessions. No summer sessions are available.

REQUIREMENTS.

Qualified candidates for the international internship will be enrolled full-time at an accredited university outside the United States, pursuing a Master’s degree or completing the last semester of an accredited Bachelor’s program. Additional requirements include:

  • Completion of a prior BMW internship of at least 3 months in length
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or country-specific equivalent
  • Ability to provide the following paperwork:
  • Cover letter in English
  • Curriculum Vitae in English
  • BMW Internship/Student Work Assignment Assessment sheet
  • International diploma/pre-degree (transcripts)

EXPLORE DIVERSE CAREER PATHS WITH OUR COOPERATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM.

Take an invaluable opportunity to gain in-depth exposure and experience at our plant in Spartanburg with our Co-op Program.

You’ll spend at least three semesters/six quarters rotating between full-time work and study. This allows you to work on continuous projects with escalating responsibility. Interested in German culture and language? You may qualify for the BMW International Co-op Program where you’ll serve your third or fourth rotation in a German BMW facility. Participants must meet the general requirements, be enrolled in their university’s international co-op program, and have language proficiency.

Co-op opportunities are available in the following fields: Engineering, Manufacturing Support, Quality Management, Logistics, Procurement, Information Technology, Human Resources, Communications, as well as Finance and Controlling.

REQUIREMENTS.

Qualified candidates for Co-op positions will be enrolled full-time at an accredited 4 year university or college in the United States and pursuing a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree. Additional requirements include:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (transfer students must have GPA from current school)
  • Completion of three semesters towards the degree by the start of the work term
  • Ability to complete 3 rotating terms for Co-op positions
  • At least 1 remaining term in school after the completion of the Internship or Co-op
  • Enrollment with the university Co-op or Career Services office
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical and substance abuse test
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident status
