The 1,150-acre, 5-million-square-foot campus generates its own power, offers an on-site Family Health Center and provides 24-hour security and firefighting personnel. It is home to the 60,000-square-foot Analysis Center, a 2.4-mile Testing Facility track, and the Zentrum, BMW’s only museum in North America.

At the ITRC, mechanical, electrical, computer engineers, and students – both from BMW, the IT industry, and universities – are working in an open innovation model on exciting proof of concepts and pilot projects where IT innovations move automotive solutions forward. A specific effort is made to find synergy between IT infrastructure, IT applications, and manufacturing process-related innovation topics due to the close collaboration with Plant Spartanburg.
The Southern Region office is responsible for sales and marketing, aftersales and Center Development.
The team handles over 100 dealerships plus satellite stores for a region that covers the US from South Carolina to Texas and includes 11 states as well as the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. In addition, the office in Atlanta is responsible for MINI sales, aftersales, market coordination, regional business management and regional product trainers (BMW and MINI). The Area Manager in the Atlanta offices plays a pivotal role in the overall sales success of BMW in the US.

Spartanburg is located in Upstate South Carolina and is 30 miles from Greenville. Both towns are located two-thirds of the way between Atlanta and Charlotte on the Interstate 85 corridor. The region is a major innovation hub and is home to more than 100 Fortune 500 companies, of which BMW’s partner Clemson University and the ITRC have become one of the epicenters. Upstate South Carolina enjoys long hot summers and mild winters. Breathtaking scenery and National Parks make both cities an Eldorado for sports and nature lovers. Bike friendly Spartanburg (municipal population 37,000 and urban population of 181,000) has many parks and offers an abundance of safe trails and scenic walks along local waterways. The city offers a year-round program of attractions to keep everyone entertained. These range from music and street festivals to the SouthEast LinuxFest, an annual open source software event.
Vibrant Greenville (municipal population of 71,000 and an urban population of 524,000) is a strong rival for entertainment with more than 300 events each year such as Fall for Greenville and Artisphere. With over 1,000 restaurants, Greenville is quickly becoming known as a “Foodie paradise”.
