BMW Group employee Pip standing in the production hall and having a chat with a colleague
My favorite thing about my role is knowing that I have good teams behind me. In any plan and any journey that I would like to take the teams, I know that they will support me. This is a good feeling that gives me satisfaction that anything I try to do good for the company and good for the team, we can get there together as ONE TEAM.

"I started working at BMW as a contractor in the position of maintenance technician in 2012. I focused my efforts to learn everything I could about the panoramic sunroof install robot. In less than two years after working in this role, I passed the testing to become full time BMW maintenance.

I have had the opportunity to work in both Assembly Halls and learned panels, seal, sunroof, door line, and then the electrical monorail system. Additionally, I was assigned some project work for the monorail system.

In 2020, I was encouraged to pursue a leadership role with more responsibility. BMW believes in coaching and developing people. So, my next step was to enter a management role. I became a section leader over all the heavy electrical monorail system, marriage line, power train and engine line.

About four years in the section leader role, I learned how to lead the business, and how to lead my team.

My team has achieved great things working together as one. We were able to develop many aspects of running our business more efficiently.

Being encouraged by my management team, I was asked if I was ready for more responsibility, which led to my current role as the maintenance operational lead.

My responsibility now is overseeing  all the daily operation for maintenance for both assembly halls. The biggest challenge for this role and my team is equipment can run good one day and then at a moments notice give a serious issue.

So that's where the challenge comes into play. You've got to always be in the ready to understand the problem, understand what resources that you need to provide to your team so that they can flourish. In this role, it is not so much that I know everything. I have learned to set up the system, to set up a team, and then equip my team with the knowledge and resources that they need to be productive and effective. I cannot be successful if my team is not successful.

My favorite thing about my role is knowing that I have good teams behind me. In any plan and any journey that I would like to take the teams, I know that they will support me. This is a good feeling that gives me satisfaction that anything I try to do good for the company and good for the team, we can get there together as ONE TEAM."
