The Paint & Body Helper supports the BMW North America Vehicle Distribution Center (VDC) Paint & Body team in the preparation, repair, and refinishing of vehicles to meet BMW’s quality and appearance standards. This role assists skilled technicians with tasks such as surface preparation, masking, minor body work, and shop maintenance, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to BMW’s safety and quality processes.

 

WHAT AWAITS YOU.

 

Vehicle Preparation & Assistance

  • Assist paint and body technicians in preparing vehicles for repair and refinishing, including washing, sanding, masking, and applying corrosion protection.
  • Support body repairs by removing and installing trim, moldings, and components as directed.
  • Maintain proper alignment of panels and parts prior to painting.

 

Paint & Refinishing Support

  • Mix, label, and prepare paints under technician guidance following BMW specifications.
  • Set up spray equipment, paint booths, and materials to ensure readiness for refinishing operations.
  • Apply primers, sealers, and protective coatings under supervision.

 

Quality & Safety Compliance

  • Inspect surfaces and work areas to ensure cleanliness and readiness for paint application.
  • Follow BMW’s VDC quality control standards for all work performed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE and hazardous material handling.

 

Shop Operations & Housekeeping

  • Maintain clean, organized workspaces in the paint and body areas.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of paint supplies, tools, and shop equipment.
  • Support waste disposal and recycling in accordance with environmental guidelines.

 

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING.

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive body repair and refinishing processes.
  • Ability to operate standard automotive tools and shop equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow detailed instructions.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to BMW quality standards.

 

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in an automotive body shop or vehicle distribution center.
  • Familiarity with BMW paint codes, refinishing materials, and repair procedures.
  • Automotive trade school or vocational training in collision repair or refinishing.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Comfortable working in paint booth environments with PPE.

Relocation is not available for this position. 


This role requires full time attendance in the facility.


The expected hourly rate for this position is $18.46 - $23.07. 


The selected candidate’s education, skills, experience, and location will be used to determine the final salary offer. All pay ranges are based on a full-time work schedule. This statement is in accordance with state and local pay disclosure requirements.
