Key Responsibilities:
• Identifies production and quality problems.
• Evaluates and realizes measures to improve production and quality with superior according to specifications and considering volume and cost implications.
• Member of quality projects and quality related task teams as required from all internal departments and levels (including superior)
• Stand-in for the Artisan when required.
• Compliance with ISO and SHE requirements:
• Support the team in achieving the Production volume, by quick response to breakdowns.
• Eliminating equipment failures by commissioning equipment prior to start-up.
Quality
• To support the team in achieving all Product, Process and System Quality targets (as per the Target Commitment Process -TCP)
• Ensure all required records and documentation are retained and updated
• Ensure adherence to ISO 9000 and ISO 14000
• Responsible for ensuring all equipment is maintained and repaired to the required quality standards (without supervision)
Flexibility
• Support the production team in achieving the Production volume, by quick response to breakdowns
• Commissioning equipment to ensure smooth production.
• Adhere to the required shift pattern to ensure optimal support to production.
• Needs to develop to ensure good support in all fields of the BIW environment (i.e. electrical and mechanical)
• Perform maintenance actions after hours as required to support production.
• Ensure all breakdowns are resolved before handing over equipment to the following shift (extra work time).
Productivity
• Eliminating equipment failure by means of preventative maintenance.
• Gaining all required knowledge of the plant and equipment to ensure that first hand information is available at all times.
• Optimize and continuously improve equipment and systems to optimize product quality, plant availability and reliability.
• Scope of equipment responsibility, all BIW specific equipment
• Fault finding on integrated systems
• Needs to develop advanced skills in assigned technology groups
• Adherence to maintenance rules of conduct
• Needs to plan optimum usage of available spares / equipment during breakdowns and preventative maintenance actions to the advantage of the plant
Environment
• Assist management in achieving the Environmental (ISO 14000) targets and conform to all BMW standards and procedures (as per TCP)
• To ensure that all work is performed competently and in accordance with BMW specifications, the OHS Act and ISO 14000.
• To ensure that all equipment and work areas are safe at all times to prevent accidents or injury to personnel.
• Ensure that equipment is maintained in accordance with safety regulations.
Impact on innovations and changes
• Implementation and testing of new standards to the advantage of the plant
• Testing of any changes and correct documentation
• Identifying areas of improvement and implementing improving projects
• Purpose and subject of the interaction/communication with internal/external interfaces, negotiating mandate
• Verbal, telephonic and written communication with production, stores, process maintenance, facilities and contractors.
Education
• N4 Electrical or Mech
• Trade Test Electrical / Mech
Experience
• Work experience, Leadership experience
• Min 1-2 years related experience in electrical & mechanical maintenance, in an automated production environment
