Technical Apprenticeships.

If you’re interested in technology, mathematics or engineering, have an eye for precision and a desire to understand how things work, our technical Apprenticeships are for you. You’ll need the physical dexterity to carry out precise work with small components, and the mathematical ability to handle complex data calculations accurately.

When you join us on one of our technical Apprenticeships, you’ll learn how we produce our exceptional vehicles, gain a deep insight into various engineering and production technologies, and be at the forefront of our sustainability drive.

You’ll be trained in a wide range of state-of-the-art automotive production and manufacturing techniques over your two to four-year Apprenticeship. The courses you cover will be influenced by the specialism you choose, but you could learn about a range of exciting topics, from robot automation to toolmaking skills such as milling and welding.

A successful career at the BMW Group is built on teamwork, enthusiasm, initiative and excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to take responsibility for the quality of your work.

The past three and a half hears have been filled with different experiences, firstly spending five weeks at MINI Plant Oxford in their Maintenance team, learning how to maintain different systems, and to my highlight, taking part in BMW’s ‘MOVE’ program in South Africa.

My brother was an apprentice at BMW Group, and when he told me about a work experience programme encouraging more women into the industry, I applied straight away. Seeing BMW Group’s innovation and technology up close, from Automated Guide Vehicles to the new press shop, has been fascinating. Meeting new people, networking across sites in the UK and Europe, and learning something new every day have really boosted my confidence and communication skills. With strong support from my colleagues, I’ve grown personally and professionally, stepping out of my comfort zone, leading projects and having my voice heard in meetings.

Like many of my peers, I planned to go to university after school but wasn’t sure full-time study was right for me. Through my apprenticeship at MINI, I can earn a degree while gaining real work experience, with the added benefit of being paid and having my university fees covered by BMW Group. My development is closely supported, with opportunities to work in different departments and build a strong understanding of the business. One highlight so far was working with Control Engineers to dismantle and rebuild one of the welding robots used in production – a challenging but invaluable learning experience.
