Manufacturing takes place across a site of around 350 square metres and at the heart of this is a workforce of employees and on-site supply partners, totalling more than 1,600 people.
Plant Hams Hall produces the latest generation of three and four-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engines, powering BMW and MINI vehicles sold across the world, including plug-in hybrid models. In recent years, the plant has also been entrusted with production of the company’s prestigious V12 and V8 engines. Built with the highest attention to detail and absolute precision, these engines are powering premium products such as Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and the M HYBRID system driving the latest BMW M5.
There’s also a high-tech machining hall, operated by a team of highly skilled machinists, to produce core engine components, crankshafts, cylinder blocks and cylinder heads – supplied to the plant’s engine assembly hall, as well as to other engine manufacturing plants within the BMW Group production network.
Hams Hall is a small place, located in a region renowned for its engineering and manufacturing heritage. It’s a great area from which many other towns, cities and attractions can be explored, with Birmingham, the UK’s second largest city – and one of the greenest cities in the UK, only a twenty-minute drive away.
At the plant, there’s a real ‘family feel’ with plenty of opportunities to get involved. From fundraising for the plant’s house charity, to Fresh Thinking to drive continuous improvement - everyone can make a difference.
