Entry & Onboarding

How was it to start at the BMW Group?
– and what surprised you at the beginning?

I like to think back to my first day. I was quite overwhelmed and nervous when I started as a young employee. But I was welcomed so warmly that this feeling faded very quickly!

What surprised me most at the beginning was actually how supportive everyone was. Everyone was really kind and took the time to explain all sorts of things to me. You immediately feel that you’re supported here – and that helps a lot, especially in the beginning, because it gives you the confidence to ask questions and try things out without feeling unsure.

Learning & Development

How have you developed at the BMW Group
– professionally and personally?

I have really developed a lot here. The area I work in now was completely new to me beforehand. What helped me was that you can ask questions at any time. If I don’t know something, I simply go to colleagues or into the workshop and ask – and someone will explain it to me. Everyone is willing to help. We also have regular training sessions, but a lot of learning happens in everyday work. You constantly learn, also just through exchanges within the team.

BMW supported me a lot in my development – I started as a Product Genius and then moved into New Car Sales. That step helped me a lot, because it made me more confident in what I do and gave me greater self-assurance. Overall, I think there are many interesting areas and opportunities at BMW if you want to develop further – but for now, I want to sell cars ;)

Routine & Daily Doing

What defines your daily work?
And what makes your tasks special?

As an Automotive Technician, you get to work on a wide range of tasks – from service work to more complex and extensive repairs. It’s very varied, because you constantly deal with different topics. At the same time, customer interaction is also part of the role. You learn how to communicate, explain things and handle different situations – something you don’t necessarily expect at the beginning.

Apprentice Automotive Mechatronics Technician
The work is very varied. There are always new challenges – some days go better than others, but that’s exactly what makes it interesting. What I enjoy most is working directly on the vehicle – working with body parts and repairing damage. There are also cases where you don’t know exactly how long something will take or how it will turn out. That’s what I find particularly exciting.

Team & Culture

How would you describe the team spirit
– within your team and across the BMW Group?

What makes our team special is that we get along really well and work well together. It’s not like everyone works on their own – we support each other and help each other in our daily work. Even when things get more stressful or don’t go as planned, we stick together. You can rely on each other and know that you are not on your own. That’s what defines a team for me.
Kata
Apprentice Warehouse Logistics
The way we interact with each other is extremely positive – I didn’t expect that. The team spirit is strong, everyone supports each other and you can really rely on one another. We also have fun together and try to make the working day as enjoyable as possible. Even when something goes wrong, you can talk about it or even laugh about it together. It all feels very close and familiar – I would even say these are not just colleagues, but friends.

Support & Learning from Mistakes

Who can you turn to for advice and support?
What happens when something goes wrong?

If I don’t know what to do, I can always turn to my supervisors or the people training me. They take the time and guide me step by step. At the same time, it’s okay to make mistakes. I’ve had situations where something didn’t work and we had to redo it – and that was handled very casually. You look at it together and figure out how to improve it. That way you realise that you’re allowed to learn and develop.
Amon
Apprentice Body and Paint Technician
If you don’t know something, you just ask. Especially at the beginning, that’s important because you’re still finding your way. You can always approach colleagues and they will help you. You work closely together anyway, so many things get clarified through exchange. That gives you confidence, because you realise you’re not on your own.

Your Future at BMW

Why is the BMW Group a good place to work for you?
And who is it the right fit for?

I would definitely recommend the job to people who are interested in technology and willing to learn new things. You don’t have to know everything at the beginning – a lot develops over time if you stay committed and keep learning.
Adel
Apprentice Automotive Mechatronics Technician
I can definitely see myself staying here. Especially because of the team and the overall environment – it’s exactly what I was looking for. We work on solutions together, support each other and don’t just leave problems unresolved. That’s what makes the difference for me and a key reason why I can imagine my future here.
Kaan
Motorcycle Service Advisor
I’m glad that I’ve been here for so long. I’m satisfied with my work, and I believe BMW is satisfied with me as well ;) It just fits – the job, the team and the tasks. That’s why I can definitely see myself staying here until retirement.
Hans

In my second year, I got my own workspace and realised: now it’s up to me – I’m responsible for how I work.
Kata
Apprentice Warehouse Logistics
I used to be a Motorcycle Technician, and now I’m in Service Consulting doing completely different things. It was a big change at first, but that’s exactly what I’m proud of – how much I’ve learned.
Kaan
Motorcycle Service Advisor
On my first day, I underestimated how big everything is – I walked six kilometres that day. After that, I never wore high heels to work again.
Andrea

I once worked on a case that was close to a total loss – every step really mattered. That’s when I realised how important it is to work precisely and how much you learn from such situations.
Amon
Apprentice Body and Paint Technician
In my job, you learn a lot – not just about technology, but also how to work with people. That’s something I didn’t expect at all in the beginning.
