The Risk Intern is responsible for assisting the BMW Financial Services Risk Management Department in managing the Residual Value Risk of the leasing portfolio. The tentative start date for this role will be May 2026.
Key Accountabilities of the function.
- Monthly update and review of standardized internal reporting for residual value risk KPIs.
- Supporting the month end Bulletin process, including data preparation, data sharing and validation.
- Maintaining existing AI models (generally data gathering and prompt reviews).
- Exploring new AI opportunities using internal applications with the goal of process improvement, efficiency gains or implementation of new approaches/analyics.
- Exploring statistical frameworks, using a combination of Excel, Python and SQL to validate or develop new modelling frameworks.
- Working closely with internal and/or external data providers to improve data breadth and accuracy.
- Developing a deep understanding of calculations, logics and methodologies; documenting where appropriate.
- Analyze the historic residual performance of the portfolio and develop visual and written reports that summarize these results, identify trends, explain variances from expectations and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Where appropriate, collaborate with counterparts in Munich on relevant topics.
- Complete ad-hoc requests related to the Risk function and present findings to management.
- Actively communicate and liase with surrounding departments to gain a stronger understanding of the business model and develop insights how risk interacts with various stakeholders.
- Development and presentation of new modelling/reporting to relevant internal stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications.
- Pursuit or completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and/or Statistical Analysis, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or equivalent experience is required.
- Strong mathematical aptitude and proven analytical skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and highly organized.
- Able to perform in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Experience with Python, SQL and Tableau is considered an asset.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word) required.
Compensation.
The compensation range for this role is $46,000 - $48,000, with variations based on factors like experience, education and skills. Experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
