Our team at the BMW Group drives the digital transformation of vehicle development processes with innovative algorithms. In this internship, you will contribute to modeling electric powertrain design as a distributed optimization problem and solving it within our novel Python framework.

What awaits you?

• You will support the digital transformation and contribute to early-stage virtualization of overall vehicle development.
• Furthermore, you help to construct representative distributed design problems for electric powertrains consisting of battery, e-machine, and gearbox.
• In addition, you assist in solving for optimal powertrain designs using various algorithms within our existing Python framework.
• Moreover, you contribute to evaluating the simulated design process, offering insights into the coordination of distributed systems, and proposing algorithmic improvements.
• You will become part of a dynamic team and gain insights into modern vehicle development.

What should you bring along?

• Studies in mathematics, computational engineering, computer science or a related field.
• Profound knowledge in mathematical numerical optimization and non-linear programming.
• Ideally, practical experience in object-oriented software development and Python.
• Structured mindset with high self-motivation.
• Very good English or German language skills.
