Senior Robotics AI Engineer (f/m/x)

ARE YOU PREPARED FOR THE FUTURE? AI, AI SIR!

Artificial Intelligence and machine learning are at the cutting edge when it comes to shaping next-gen mobility in areas like automated driving. But it takes real intellectual leadership and expertise to identify and then harness the AI trends and technologies that will transform the way people travel for good.

We advance embodied intelligence at the BMW Group by tailoring and deploying robotic foundation models. Our focus is on expanding the capabilities of vision-language-action models, world models, and reasoning models to enable the next wave of robotics systems for the automotive world.

What you will do

  • You create advanced AI approaches for general-purpose robotics, with a focus on robotic foundation models.
  • Furthermore, you train, finetune, evaluate, and deploy models such as vision-language-action architectures.
  • You build scalable data and training pipelines that unify data from robot fleets, simulation, and synthetic sources.
  • You integrate models into complete robotic systems using ROS 2, real-time controllers, and manufacturing IT environments.
  • Additionally, you define and enforce performance, safety, and security standards, including monitoring for latency, drift, bias, and hallucinations.
  • You work closely with platform, data, and production teams.
  • Last but not least, you guide and develop engineers and researchers.

What you bring

  • University degree (Master’s or PhD) in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years in robotics or applied ML with production deployments in manipulation or mobile robotics.
  • Deep expertise in foundation models, specifically, multimodal, reasoning and vision-language-action models, diffusion models, and modern finetuning methods (PEFT, DPO, RLHF).
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C++ and experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or JAX, CUDA)
  • Hands-on experience with industrial or research robots and simulators (e.g., ROS 2, Isaac Sim, MuJoCo); knowledge of kinematics, motion planning, and control.
  • Publications, patents, or open-source contributions are a plus.

Are you ready to shape the next generation of domain-specific AI platforms at the BMW Group? Apply now!
