Working Student Research Machine Learning and Computational Modeling (f/m/x)
SOME IT WORKS. SOME CHANGES WHAT'S POSSIBLE.
SHARE YOUR PASSION.
More than 90% of automotive innovations are based on electronics and software. That's why creative freedom and lateral thinking are so important in the pursuit of truly novel solutions. That’s why our experts will treat you as part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table – and give you the opportunity to really show what you can do.
Our team at the BMW Group develops robust and scalable software systems to support advanced machine learning and computational research. We collaborate with experts to deliver high-quality software solutions for innovative applications. During your internship, you will help shape the future of functional development and data management.
What awaits you?
- You will support the implementation of state-of-the-art generative models (e.g., diffusion, flow matching) based on recent research.
- Furthermore, you help to develop and replicate machine learning models using PyTorch and optionally JAX.
- In addition, you contribute to research in computer vision, including 3D geometry representation and 3D CV tasks.
- Moreover, you will assist in exploring numerical methods in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- You help with projects involving shape and topology optimization.
- Additionally, you support project tasks and collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team.
- You will support the independent completion of tasks and receive regular feedback from your mentor.
What should you bring along?
- Studies in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering or a related field.
- Excellent coding skills; ability to implement and replicate research papers.
- Profound knowledge of PyTorch; familiarity with JAX is a plus.
- Experience or interest in generative modeling concepts such as diffusion models and flow matching.
- Solid understanding of computer vision and 3D geometry representation.
- Knowledge or motivation to work on CFD and numerical methods is advantageous.
- Good English skills; German is a plus.
