WHAT AWAITS YOU.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on customs and export control compliance for BMW Group US entities, ensuring full adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to implement and enhance customs and export control processes, controls, and key performance indicators.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors such as customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies.
  • Oversee duty mitigation strategies and compliance monitoring for a wide range of products, including vehicles, parts, and accessories.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate internal teams on customs and export control requirements and best practices.
  • Monitor regulatory changes, assess their impact, and drive necessary updates to policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Drive process improvements and system modernization initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce risk.

 

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING.

  • Bachelor’s Degree – preferably in International Business, Finance, Logistics, Supply Chain, International Studies or related field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of one of the following licenses or certifications: Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Master Customs Specialist (MCS) or Certified Zone Specialist (CZS), Accredited Zone Specialist (AZS) or Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in customs and export control compliance, preferably in automotive or manufacturing environments.
    • Preferences:
    • Strong knowledge of US and international customs regulations, export controls, classification, valuation, and compliance management.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP GTS, or similar trade compliance software.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with regulators, vendors, and internal teams.
    • Ability to lead projects, manage multiple priorities, and work collaboratively across functions.
    • Basic proficiency in German or Spanish is a plus.
    • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required


The expected salary range for this position is $62,500.00 – $127,800.00.

In support of BMW Group’s business objectives, this position requires regular onsite attendance at a BMW office/facility with remote work capability (hybrid). 

 

The selected candidate’s education, skills, experience, and location will be used to determine the final salary offer. All pay ranges are based on a full-time work schedule. This statement is in accordance with state and local pay disclosure requirements.

 

Specifics: Position reports to Ryan Pratt, Head of Customs. It is Woodcliff Lake, NJ based and is in function level EL V exempt.  The selected candidate’s Personal Grade (PG) and geographical location will be used as the final components of the salary band assignment. Relocation assistance is not available.
