Rework Technician

The Rework Technician is responsible for identifying, prioritising, and coordinating inline rework activities within the assembly line to minimize downtime, ensure product quality, and maximise throughput. This role acts as the liaison between production operators, quality, engineering, and maintenance to implement effective containment, root-cause analysis, and timely corrective actions on the line.

What awaits you?

  • Monitor and manage inline rework areas to ensure efficient utilisation of space and resources without compromising production schedules.
  • Coordinate rework tasks on the line, prioritising work orders based on urgency, impact on quality, and production demand.
  • Liaise with Quality Assurance to triage non-conforming parts, document defects, and track disposition and corrective actions.
  • Lead on-the-floor containment and immediate corrective actions to prevent recurrence during the shift.
  • Facilitate root-cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone) for inline defects, in collaboration with operators, QA, and engineering. Develop and implement standard work, work instructions, and checklists for common inline rework scenarios.
  • Escalate chronic issues to appropriate teams (Production, Maintenance, Supply Chain) and track action items to closure.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as rework rate, cycle time, scrap rate, and downtime, and generate daily/weekly performance reports.

What should you bring along?

  • Minimum Engineering NDip (Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical) and/or Artisan technical Certification
  • Leadership/Management qualifications would be an advantage.
  • Experience 1-3 years in manufacturing, assembly, or quality roles; experience with line operations and rework processes.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, root-cause analysis
  • Strong organisation, prioritisation, and time-management abilities; effective on-the-floor communication; data entry and literacy in manufacturing systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); familiarity with manufacturing execution systems and quality management software is a plus.
