What awaits you?

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Intern is primarily responsible for facilitating month-end close processes, general ledger and bank reconciliations and journal entries pertaining to the Retail Finance, Commercial Finance and Accounts Payables business lines of BMW Group Financial Services Canada.

 

  • Perform general ledger accounting functions such as journal entry preparation, month-end close processes, financial reporting accuracy and compliance to IFRS, GL account reconciliations and analysis of key balance sheet and income statement account balance movements.
  • Provide support to the accounting team for efficient month-end, quarter-end and year-end close. 
  • Prepare mid-year, interim, year-end audit working papers and coordinate with manager for both internal and external auditors.
  • Discuss reoccurring variances with the Accounting team, identify system problems and recommend solutions to the US IT team in order to fix at the root cause.
  • Collaborate with other business functions to proactively identify opportunities for efficiencies and internal control gaps, and address findings to the Accounting manager. 
  • Act as an additional resource for Accounts Payable related functions.
  • Ad hoc Projects/Analysis.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

 

 

What should you bring along?

  • Recent graduate (within the last 12 months) with a bachelor's degree in a related area. 
  • Any knowledge in the use of accounting software and Tableau Reporting would be an asset.
  • Prior experience with preparing and analyzing account reconciliations would also be an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills,
  • Any knowledge in the use of accounting software and Tableau report would be an asset.

Compensation

The compensation range for this role is $47,000 - $49,000, with variations based on factors like experience, education and skills. Experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
