Business Controller

Our Finance team is looking for a Business Controller.

 

What awaits you?

  • You will be responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, producing complete and accurate financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will review financial transactions, analyse results, and provide clear commentary to both local and central teams.
  • You will lead the annual budget and forecast process, ensuring timely and accurate submission to the central system and providing comprehensive analysis of key KPIs.
  • You will oversee the core controlling operations for BMW Group Australia and Aftersales, acting as a key contact for internal and external stakeholders and providing accurate, timely financial support and advice.
  • You will partner closely with business areas and Aftersales teams, providing financial insight, supporting day-to-day decision making, and strengthening the link between Finance and the business.
  • You will drive ongoing reporting and ensure precise, forward-looking controlling reports to improve processes and meet internal targets.
  • You will plan, steer, and report on gross profit, contribution margin, cost of retail, and project business cases; you will prepare monthly accruals and variance analyses.
  • You will verify dealer bonus payments, balance sheet reconciliations, and support the payment process; you will prepare budgets and forecasts using COPAS and JRP as required.
  • You will support profit simulations, manage ad-hoc requests from management, and perform ad-hoc tasks as required for Controlling and Finance.

What you should bring along?

  • University degree in Commerce with an Accounting focus, CPA or equivalent qualification is desirable.
  • Proven experience in a similar senior-level role, ideally with detailed knowledge of internal processes within NSCs, Dealerships, and central/headquarter departments.
  • Proven experience in preparing, interpreting, and analysing complex data sets to develop spreadsheets, reports, and presentations, with the ability to explain outcomes clearly.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the business.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Power BI.
  • Excellent data and numbers orientation with strong attention to detail, a disciplined approach to accurate reporting, and a high standard of precision.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of the automotive industry and dealership networks is a plus.
