Laboratory Analyst Intern (Fall 2026)

Description:
- The intern will assist the Non-Metals TX-56 group in establishing “best practice” guidelines for sample preparation, maintenance, and analysis results for various equipment (Scanning Electron Microscope, X-Ray, etc.).
- The intern will document the capabilities and limitations of the current equipment as well as research recommendations for future purchases.
The qualified intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:
- Assist the Non-Metals TX-56 group interview customers for analysis needs.
- Perform sample preparation for future analysis.
- Conduct analysis using lab equipment.
- Document results, including recommendations based on conversations with the customer.
- Research, evaluate, and document equipment capabilities, limitations, and costs.
- Create “best practice” guidelines for sample preparation, maintenance topics, and analysis results based on current lab equipment.
- Merge measurement analysis with non-destructive equipment results (X-Ray and CT Scan).
- Provide long-term business case strategy for future replacement financial planning.
- Work with ADM (Laboratory report documenting system).
- Utilize PQM (Problem Solving Quality Management system).
Qualifications:
- Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or similar degree.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
- Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
- Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
- Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
- Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
- MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
- Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
