Description
  • The potential intern will be a part of the Technical Planning Americas & South Africa team and work alongside the innovation & digitalization team.
  • Main objectives will be to support the implementation of the Virtual Factory as part of the BMW iFactory Digital strategy in plant Spartanburg.
  • Other tasks may include, but are not limited to:
    • Creating communication content.
    • Project management.
    • Collaboration and communication with internal customers and external suppliers such as NVIDIA, NavVis & IMK.
 The Qualified Intern Should Expect to Contribute and Improve in the Following Functions
  • General support in building up the Virtual Factory in NVIDIA Omniverse, piloting 3D-Human-Simulation with EMA Work Designer.
  • Implementation and further development of the manual Re-Scan process with cutting edge 3D-Scan hardware.
  • Concept and piloting of an autonomous re-scan process.
  • Communication with BMW internal customers and help organize communication events (webinars etc.).
  • Project management and supplier communication.
 Qualifications
  • Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Information Technology (IT) or similar.
  • Innovative and open minded.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Team player mindset.
  • Self-driven to push projects and tasks forward.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good German language skills.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Organized and able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Good MS Office knowledge required.
  • Preferred but not mandatory IT skills: CAD (Microstation, Revit), Agile Tools (JIRA & Confluence), NVIDIA Omniverse.
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on the US grading scale.
  • Must be enrolled at a university outside of the United States.
  • Must have completed a prior BMW internship of at least 3 months in length.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours/week).
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
  • Work term dates: September 21, 2026, to March 5, 2027.
