International Digitalization Intern (Spring 2026)

Description: 

The Digitalization International Intern will assist with the daily operations of managing Digitalization initiatives and driving continual improvement of Digitalization related topics within the Assembly Shop. The qualified Intern should expect to contribute and improve production Industry 4.0 solutions such as App development, AI supported Vision inspection, process verification systems and predictive maintenance solutions with cloud infrastructure tools. Key objectives include support of the teams’ core responsibilities and ownership/implementation of at least one-use case of an identified innovation project to be determined at the start of the rotation

The qualified intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

  • Gets to know new technologies and different fields of work.
  • Supports in idea generation, proof of concept, process development, and best practice transfer for continuous improvement projects.
  • Aides in data visualizations/ dashboard creation for all levels of Assembly management.
  • Creates/reviews technical and user documentation into a webpage as applicable.
  • Sets up low code app development environment and create basic app framework, test app and iterate.
  • Leads assigned or self-initiated projects to that focus on process improvements.
  • Provides real time support to production with issues related to new technology for series processes.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting/resolution of IT incidents related to new technology.
  • Supports new tool installations/modifications/moves in Assembly.
  • Trains other production associates in proper tool use and system function.
  • Leads or assists in line trials for new use cases.
  • Communicates or presents accomplishments and achievements at the end of each semester
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Business, Engineering or Computer Science degree.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Project management skills such as excellent time-management and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Knowledge or Interest of Internet of Things (IoT’s), Industry 4.0, and Data Analytics strongly desired.
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on the US grading scale
  • Must be enrolled at a university outside of the United States.
  • Must have completed a prior BMW internship of at least 3 months in length.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
  • Work terms dates are from March 09, 2026, to September 18, 2026.
  • Must provide the following paperwork in English.
