As Metrology Technician, you will be in charge of ensuring the provision of reliable geometrical quality data into the painted body technology (press shop, body shop, paint shop) based on the BMW measurement strategy, enabling geometrical quality targets for the customer and internal process partners are met.
What awaits you?
- Work Environment – you perform measurements both in a high-standard laboratory and on the shop floor; your responsibilities also include supporting the press shop and body shop.
- Team – as part of a 12-person team, you contribute to the execution of quality management tasks.
- Measurement Planning & Execution – you plan and carry out measurement routines using various measurement systems and concepts, in collaboration with the product methodology specialist.
- Geometrical Analysis – you prepare and perform geometrical analyses on products and production tools using CAx technologies and coordinate measuring equipment (e.g., CMM, GOM, Laser Tracker).
- Support for Quality Issues – you assist in analyzing geometrical quality issues related to products, body-in-white assemblies, pressed parts, and production tools.
- Technical Representation – you represent measurement technology in project and problem-solving meetings.
- Sampling Inspection Management – you lead sampling inspections with internal and external BMW partners and develop appropriate corrective actions.
What should you bring along?
- Educational Background - at least a secondary education (in metrology, mechanics, electronics) or a related field of study.
- Work Experience - you have gained at least 3 years of professional experience in similar positions (preferably in the automotive industry).
- Work schedule - flexible.
- Language skills - native-level Hungarian and at least basic English knowledge is required.
- Equipment Knowledge – You have gained experience with tactile and optical measurement systems (Inline and Offline measurement systems, e.g., ZEISS AiMax, GOM Scanbox, LEICA Lasertracker, ISRA Measurement Systems).
- Software and Data Analysis Knowledge – knowledge in handling and analyzing measurement data (e.g., FMK or RPS); familiarity with CAD, database, and measurement softwares (forexample GOM, CATIA, POLYWORKS, GOM, eMIL, eMMA, QUARTIS, IDA, JIM, PRISMA).
- Communication and Teamwork – You demonstrate strong communication skills. You are capable of working in a team and are open to continuous self-improvement.
