Description -
As Controls Engineering Co-op you will receive a well-rounded experience in controls engineering, exposing you to various aspects of system improvement, project support, and digitalization efforts. Your dedication and commitment will play a crucial role in enhancing our products and processes. Key objectives include working on projects to improve energy reduction, equipment installation and uptime, and digitalization projects
The qualified intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:
- Improve Equipment functionality with improved programming
- Support Controls Engineers on Downtime reduction projects
- Support Controls Engineers on new equipment projects commissioning and installation
- Review equipment programming to reduce nuisance fault messages
- Support Digitalization Specialist on IoT projects and data analytics
- Communicate or present accomplishments and achievements at the end of each semester
Projects include:
- Energy Reduction Project- Reduce BMW equipment energy consumption via automation and controls
- Digitalization Projects – Installation of IoT devices and software for Predictive Maintenance and Data Analytics
- Improve equipment uptime with programming improvements and component replacements
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and develop corrective action plan
- Support new equipment installations for new vehicle models
- Identify methods of simplifying systems or processes while maintaining BMW standards.
Qualifications -
- Pursuing a degree in Business, Engineering or Computer Science.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Project management skills such as excellent time-management and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience in Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge or Interest of Internet of Things (IoT’s), Industry 4.0, and Data Analytics strongly desired.
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
- Have enrolled student status status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
- Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
- Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
- Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
- MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT.
- Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
