BMW Group Plant Hams Hall is a modern, state-of-the-art engine manufacturing facility, located just outside Birmingham, UK. Producing the latest generation of three- and four-cylinder petrol engines, and precision machining key engine components, the plant will soon be celebrating 25 years successful of production. Operating seven days a week, with more than one engine rolling off the line per minute, the plant plays a key role in BMW Group’s global production network, supplying engines for BMW and MINI, including some of the latest plug-in hybrid vehicles.

 

 

BMW Hams Hall, Birmingham – Intern Logistics Planning (Logistics Role) – 13-Month Placement (July 2026)

 

The Logistics Planning Department consists of 4 main pillars. Automation which oversees automated logistic solutions to improve processes and reduce cost. Material Flow managing the delivery of parts from the inbound delivery from HGVs to Lineside delivery for production. Structure is the factory itself including buildings and roads. Packaging makes sure that the parts are delivered securely, sustainably and satisfying the high-quality BMW Group expects of their products.

 

Logistics Planning supports Physical Logistics by designing new processes such as the storage strategy of parts, lineside delivery methods and the outbound delivery of completed engines to vehicle plants.

What awaits you?

  • Support of Project Team with new automation installation and commissioning
  • Help identify new use-cases for automation to improve an existing process
  • Raising and management of orders to purchase new equipment and suppliers’ services

  • Engineering – Mechanical / Electrical / Manufacturing / Automotive /Supply Chain and Logistics
  • Positive mindset while overcoming blockers
  • Proactive in completing tasks by developing an understanding for certain processes within the business
  • Management of time and tasks due to project deadlines
