MINI Plant Oxford and Swindon - Facilities Building Management and Energy Internship – 13 Month Placement (July 2026)

 

Our Facility Management and Energy department are looking for a driven and motivated student to join the team for a 13-month placement opportunity, commencing July 2026 The Facility Management and Energy department maintains all the non-production infrastructure, such as roads, buildings and utility supply networks on the plant.

What awaits you?

  • Preparing documents to put out tender enquiries for contractors as well as project managing, supervising and coordinating the work of contractors. 
  • Supplier Steering and responding appropriately to reactive repairs as they arise.
  • Managing and leading facility change requests to ensure minimum disruption to core activities.
  • Planning for future developments including best allocation and utilisation of space and resources for new buildings, or re-organising of current premises.
  • Checking that any agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed to a high standard, and following up on any deficiencies.
  • Using performance management techniques to monitor and demonstrate achievement of agreed service levels and to lead on improvement.
  • Using various internal BMW facilities management systems to analyse and manage data that will support the planning of maintenance schedules and proactive tasks.
  • Contributing ideas towards reducing the sites energy consumption and providing ideas for improved sustainability and circularity of systems currently used

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Studying towards a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction or Business and on track to achieve a 2:2 or above. Work experience in areas such as administration, building, business, construction, engineering, energy management would be advantageous but is not required.
  • Confident decision-making.
  • Time management and project management skills.
  • Teamwork skills and the ability to lead and motivate others.
  • IT skills preferred, particularly with experience in the MS Suite.
  • A practical, flexible and innovative approach to work with an ability to prioritise workload.
  • A full driving licence may be required if travelling between sites.

Eligibility:

 

  • Returning to studies for at least 6 months after the placement.
