Perhaps you are a domestic or an international student who is currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master Degree program, or perhaps you are considering a work experience year. Our program is designed to complement your theoretical studies and support your professional development by providing you with real hands-on experience of working as part of a dynamic team in your chosen field.
The program is open to domestic and international students who are currently enrolled in a Bachelors or Master’s program, or have graduated no more than 12 months prior to internship start date.

Immerce yourself in the BMW culture for six months to test your choice of career with our Domestic Internship Program.
Enjoy three months paid work at our manufacturing plant in Spartanburg to find out if you are the creative type, good at organizing, or putting ideas into action. It will point you in the right direction for your future career.
Our Internship Program allows undergraduate and graduate students to work for one time period (spring, summer, or fall) in order to test their career choices while gaining valuable experience. This enables you to discover your career choices while gaining valuable experience in a manufacturing environment. After which you will join teams that are assigned to special projects. We have internship opportunities available during spring, summer, and fall sessions.
You can join us for an internship if you are a full-time student, pursuing at least a Bachelor’s degree, attend an accredited university or college in the United States, and meet the following requirements:
Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Have full-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States
Pursuing a BS or Graduate Degree as indicated
Have completed three semesters towards that degree by the start of the work term
Able to complete 3 rotating terms for co-op positions
Have at least 1 remaining term in school after the completion of the co-op or internship
Transfer students must have a GPA from current university
Enrolled with the university co-op or career services office
Complete and pass a pre-placement substance abuse test before the work term
U.S. citizen or permanent resident

By offering practical assignments and focused training, the BMW Group and participating institutions give these top-performing students the chance to establish a long-term relationship with the company beyond graduation.
Incoming graduate students are eligible to apply for the BMW Fellowships at Clemson. BMW Fellows receive $10,000 to cover tuition and educational expenses during their first year of the program.

Incoming MBA students are eligible to apply for the BMW Fellowship directly with the Graduate Division Office at USC as part of their MBA application process. Applicants chosen as BMW Fellows receive financial assistance to assist with tuition and educational expenses during their first year of the program.

Begin their M.S. program in Clemson University’s Department of Automotive Engineering
Students must apply for admission and be accepted to be considered for the fellowship
Have at least a 3.3 GPA from their undergraduate institution
Have unrestricted work eligibility in the U.S. (cannot require sponsorship)
Have relevant experience in manufacturing or automotive
Be willing to perform at least one three-month internship at BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC
Be willing to learn German and work internationally. Students are not promised an international assignment but they must be willing to go if asked
