Life in Seattle and Washington State.

Seattle is the largest city in both the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest region of North America. The Seattle metropolitan area of around 3.7 million inhabitants is the 15th largest metropolitan area in the United States.

The city is situated on an isthmus between Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington, about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canada–United States border. A major gateway for trade with Asia, Seattle is the third largest port in North America in terms of container handling as of 2015. With a fast growing economy, Seattle is home to Fortune 500 companies such as Boeing, Amazon, Starbucks, Costco, Microsoft, as well as many fast growing tech companies. It has become a hub for ecommerce, cloud computing and connected car technology. Due to the innovative environment of the city, Forbes has ranked Seattle as one of the 10 best places for Business and Careers in the US.

Seattle is also a city for lovers of the great outdoors; the temperate climate allows year-round cycling, skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, climbing, sailing and swimming. Surrounded on both sides by water and with the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges nearby, a variety of outdoor experiences are a short car ride away. Seattle boasts scenic destinations such as Mt. Rainer.

Seattle has a historic and vibrant music scene covering grunge music, avant-garde jazz, classic rock and alternative rock bands. Its annual attractions include the Seattle International Film Festival, Northwest Folklife, numerous Seafair events and the Bumbershoot art and music festival.

City attractions are numerous and include one of the largest Ferris wheels in the US, the Seattle Aquarium, The Seattle Art Museum, Experience Music Project, and the Museum of Flight, the largest private air and space museum in the world.

For those looking for a mix of exciting city life, an environment to discover and swap cutting edge ideas, as well as a great quality of life, Seattle offers an ideal mix.
