We, the BMW Grou, offer you an interesting and varied master's thesis in the area of autonomous driving perception. 

In Autonomous driving state-of-the-art deep neural networks are used for perception tasks like object detection. These networks achieve promising results for a variety of sensors. However there are differences in the handling of these sensors. Current approaches are inspired by the handling of images and struggle with the sparsity and higher dimensionality. Novel approaches in this field build graphs based on LiDAR pointclouds to use them for object detection.  

The objective is to explore graph methods for graph based sensor representations .  

What awaits you?  

• Close collaboration in a team within the BMW research department.  
• You are working on state-of-the-art techniques for object detection and develop novel approaches with graph neural networks and validate these in experiments on a cluster infrastructure.    

Please note that your thesis must be supervised by a university on your part.

What should you bring along?

• Strong knowledge in machine learning.
• Knowledge in computer vision.
• Good programming skills.
• Proficiency with Python and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow or PyTorch).
• Good English skills.
