Specialist Battery cell analysis (f/m/x)
THE MOST IMPORTANT CHEMICAL BOND: ENTHUSIASM AND KNOW-HOW.
SHARE YOUR PASSION.
Battery specialists at the BMW Group are in their element. Because here, where innovative solutions are also developed in test tubes, the synthesis of passion and know-how is in great demand. The ability to convert energy into determination and vision into reality is particularly necessary. The reaction product needs to be unparalleled driving pleasure - our vehicles' hallmark.
We are seeking highly motivated individuals to complete our battery cell analysis and battery material characterization teams within BMW’s material and process analysis technology.
What awaits you?
- You are responsible for different analytical methods (chemical and physical) for the characterization of existing and novel battery materials (Li-Ion/post-li-ion technology as well as solid state materials)
- You are developing new methods for the chemical and physical characterization of active battery materials, which can be used in both solid-state and liquid electrolyte batteries as well as in a potential series production.
- You actively support the battery cell- and material analysis teams
- You are an expert for evaluating chemical and physical analysis results and report or present them in interdisciplinary teams and to our process partners from development, production and suppliers.
- Your tasks may also include the planning and construction of these laboratories (premises, technical building equipment, purchase and commissioning of testing equipment, machines and systems)
- In the overall series start-up expertise project, you may coordinate the scope and interfaces of analysis and validation content with development and production departments.
- Your work makes an important contribution to the assessment of current and future battery materials in the area of Li-ion, post-Li-ion or solid state battery technology and their safety aspects.
- You are also responsible for creating quality-relevant documents such as operating and work instructions and ensuring the functionality of the equipment associated with you (test equipment management, continuous improvement process, further and new development of methods, etc.).
What should you bring along?
- Bachelor/Master Degree, possibly with a doctorate in chemistry, physics, material sciences, or a comparable course of study.
- Professional experience and detailed knowledge of lithium-ion technology (anode, cathode, separator and electrolyte) or solid state battery technology is absolutely necessary.
- Experience with large-format Li-ion cells and modules is highly desired.
- Very good knowledge in the application and interpretation of chemical and physical analysis and evaluation methods, e.g. like electroimpedance spectroscopy (EIS), liquid chromatography (HPLC), electron microscopy (SEM/EDX)
- Profound experience within chemical laboratories and the necessary equipment for safe handling of battery chemicals is expected.
- Experience in the application and evaluation of physical-chemical tests for (post-)li-ion or solid state batteries and safe movement in appropriately equipped laboratories
- Business fluency in German and English.
