We at BMW define the future of digital premium experience inside and outside of the vehicle. In your role as Automotive Security Penetration Tester, you will be part of this development of new future technologies. Your goal is to make the product even more secure for the customer. For you, this means using your hacking skills to identify security vulnerabilities in hardware, software or in-vehicle networks in our future automotive architectures.
What awaits you?
You perform penetration tests on the component and vehicle system level, including the interface to the back-end systems.
In your daily work you will find vulnerabilities on source code level and identify faulty design on the HW or network level.
You provide evidence of the vulnerabilities by means of exploits or comparable procedures.
To fix the vulnerability, you help the process partners with creative solution recommendations.
Together with the penetration test team, you prioritize the critical components and functions and define the attack strategy.
The opportunity for RED teaming and cross-team work is available. You will have the opportunity to continuously improve your skills.
What should you bring along?
Degree in electrical engineering, computer science or a comparable qualification.
At least 3-5 years of professional experience in automotive security or classic IT security, ideally in an embedded environment (e.g. IoT).
Knowledge of the procedures in cryptography and IT security. Knowledge of performing security analyzes and penetration tests.
Experience in the use of penetration test tools (e.g. fuzzing frameworks) and in scripts (Python, Bash, etc.), in (embedded) software development (C, C ++) as well as in machine languages and assembly.
Experience in binary exploitation and/or in reverse engineering of hardware and software component / function development experience.
Knowledge of vehicle bus systems (CAN, FlexRay) embedded operating systems and embedded hardware and software architectures are desirable.
Business fluent knowledge of English required, knowledge of German is an advantage.
