Description

Every day the BMW Group’s Material Steering departments order over 31 million parts to enable over 31 production locations in 14 countries to build more than 9,000 vehicles a day. To pursue this mission of digitalization, you will have the opportunity to leverage best-in-class technology to bring about change on a company-wide level. Our group is looking for data experts with serious analytical skills and knowledge of cloud environments. Can you help predict the next big supply chain crisis?

 

What awaits you?

  • Your role in our group will be the resident expert in AI and data engineering topics.
  • Within this impactful environment, you as a Data Scientist/Data Engineer will be a central cornerstone, laying and developing the data-based groundwork for one of the highest performing supply chains to further advance.
  • Together with an international team of highly selected data scientists, engineers, supply chain experts and creatives, you will develop cutting-edge applications and forecasts to not only solve pressing supply chain problems but to also foster BMW’s leadership in supply chain logistics by taking our global operations to the next data-informed level.
  • Development and application of Machine Learning, simulation and optimization algorithms to improve BMW’s supply chain are part of your job profile. 
  • You will conduct the entire modelling process from identifying business pain points, data engineering, modelling to deployment and roll out.
  • You develop and operate data processing pipelines and analytics applications using appropriate AWS services.
  • You implement data delivery solutions to power our internal services with a focus on scalability, speed, and reliability.
  • We will create a constant knowledge feed to BMW Management on trends and possibilities for growth in the data science space.
  • You will help to embrace data analytics tools and methods confidently and responsibly to solve business challenges. You will mentor an international and diverse team of young professionals.

 

What should you bring along?

  • Degree in computer science, business informatics, engineering, mathematics or a comparable qualification.
  • Professional experience in the development of data and machine learning pipelines (Proficient using Spark/SQL). Interest in the area of Supply Chain Management is a plus.
  • Knowledge in areas Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (Algorithm creation and modeling). Great to have: Experience in Python for AI-/ Analytics-libraries such as Scikit, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, Pandas will be an advantage. Nice to have: Experience with Causal Machine learning.
  • Solid practical experience in Data Engineering, building automated ETL pipelines. In-depth knowledge of Pyspark with Big Data Tools & REST APIs Knowledge of coding languages (e.g., Python, C++, Java, JavaScript) and frameworks/systems (e.g., AngularJS, Git).
  • Experience with platforms like e.g. Palantir Foundry is a plus.
  • A great communicator who understands the art of explaining complicated things in simple words.
  • Business fluent English communication skills and good German skills.
