Description

The Retail and Industry Relations Manager will influence BMW NA Executive Management on building positive and productive relationships with the BMW and MINI dealer networks. You will manage and convey Dealer Forum and Subcommittee content as well as communication to key stakeholders. You will manage dealer network communication turning thoughts/needs into a productive outcome yielding a useable agenda for meetings creating an atmosphere of trust and cooperation. Promote an exchange of ideas, policies and procedures to a myriad of industry organizations to reinforce and communicate BMW NA’s position in the U.S. market. You will oversee Dealer Recognition programs administrative responsibilities (Profiles in Achievement, Achievements in Motoring, Center of Excellence, Bulldog and Dealer Communications (Dealer Direct).

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop symbiotic affiliation with the dealer network that emphasizes trust, partnership, and business growth through dynamic 2-way communication practices and relationship development.
  • Build communications strategy and structures that help improve dealer and industry relations by enhancing and streamlining communication channels and message with the objective to increase audience understanding and buy-in of BMW NA’s strategic goals and targets.
  • Manage the BMW Dealer Forum and MINI Dealer Council process including the facilitation of a full schedule of Forum/Council, Sub-Committees, and special Work Group meetings.
  • Drive the agenda for the Forum/Council Meetings. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, liaison with other internal departments to identify agenda topics, workshops and presenters, communication of corporate messages, meeting design, executive speech writing, and collaboration with regions and production companies, taking an active role in directing the flow of the meetings.
  • Manage expectations between Dealers and BMW NA and MINI USA.
  • Interact with BMW NA General Counsel and outside lobbyists to organize the BMW Group dealer network against potentially harmful legislative actions.
  • Promote awareness and participation in the bi-annual NADA Dealer Attitude Survey (“DAS”).
  • Analyze NADA DAS results with the end result of creating a plan of execution for possible executive actions.
  • Promote BMW Group business strategies and dealer network business activities to the broader dealer communities via Dealer Direct communications platform.
  • Act as the dealer advocate on all matters within BMW NA.
  • Chair the BMW Dealer Forum and support Sub-Committees by organization, ensuring a consistent basis of communications with members on issues impacting dealer profitability, performance and varying business topics.
  • Create a successful partnership between BMW NA and its BMW/MINI dealer network by negotiating mutual goals.
  • Collaborate with automotive industry groups to ensure that BMW NA’s strategies, policies and programs are understood and accepted and contribute to the development of industry-wide messaging. The groups include NADA, AIADA, NAMAD, and state dealer associations.
  • Facilitate the annual Make Meetings at the NADA Conference.
  • Assist senior management in formulating information and position statements as requested by NAMAD for their annual convention.
  • Participate in and report on key Dealer Forum meetings and C4-US key dealer meetings such as the Americas Brand and Business Summits, Retail Business Meetings, National Aftersales Conferences and similar dealer facing events.
  • Manage BMW NA and MINI USA dealership personnel incentive platforms.

 The pay range for this role is: $137,520 - $175,365.

The selected candidate’s education, skills, experience, and location will be used to determine the final salary offer. All pay ranges are based on a full-time work schedule. This statement is in accordance with state and local pay disclosure requirements.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Accounting, Communication, Economics, Psychology, or other related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience that includes;
  • 5+ years of experience in regional field team management 
  • 3+ years of experience in a National Office management capacity
  • 2+ years of experience in working in a position in close cooperation with Legal

Preferences:

  • MBA preferred
  • Experience with dealer processes and general automotive retail relations
  • Skills on planning, staffing, budgeting, organizing and controlling
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others
