Intern, Advanced Driver Assistance System Data
This is a full-time internship position for our Spring Rotation, expected to start around January 8, 2024 through May 31, 2024 in Woodcliff Lake, NJ.
The intern will support the US Automated Driving Team to perform function-regression and usage studies by analyzing large scale engineering and customer fleet data sets. The goal is to retrieve actionable insights for enhancing the BMW automated driving experience while minimizing testing and validation costs. You will help us to build the software tools and pipelines needed to maximize the leverage of these insights across different parts of our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analysis of customer fleet data to identify new issues, refine requirements or improve test planning
- Use of data analytics tools and methods to identify and define US customer focused test cases and US market specific requirements
- Use of large-scale data platforms such as e.g. Amazon Web Services (AWS) to monitor the implementation of these requirements into targeted functions and systems by use of data driven validation
- Communication of US specific requirements and data insights to functional owners at the BMW AG headquarters in Munich, Germany.
- Participation in validation test drives to align data-based findings with real world vehicle use cases

The hourly rate for Undergraduate students is $27.50.
The hourly rate for Graduate students is $31.25.
The selected student's academic level will be used to determine the final pay rate. This statement is in accordance with state and local pay disclosure requirements.

Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor or master’s degree program at an accredited college or university
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
- Have completed at least 30 college credit hours at time of application
- Field of study: Major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Data Analytics and/or Engineering.
- Additional skills: Amazon-AWS experience
- Prior BMW Group experience (applicable to international students only)
- Strong programming skills with a solid foundation in data structures and algorithms.
- Proficiency in Python and pydata stack (pandas, pyspark, scikit-learn)
- Proficiency in SQL/HIVErelational databases
- Experience with statistical data analysis such as linear models and time series forecasting
- Knowledge of automotive engineering and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
- Must attach a copy of college unofficial transcript
- Ability to work full-time (36.25 hours/week)
- Excellent time-management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent organizational and planning skills

Preferences:
- Prior internship and/or relevant work experience
- Previous work experience within BMW or the automotive industry in the field of data science/testing & validation
- Languages: English, German (fluent, oral and written)
