Plant Oxford is the birthplace and heart of MINI production. Manufactured to individual customer specifications, hundreds of MINIs leave the plant’s assembly lines each day, off to meet new owners in more than 110 countries around the world. Three UK plants have a part to play in MINI production – Plant Hams Hall makes engines, Plant Swindon produces body pressings and sub-assemblies for MINI, and all this comes together at Plant Oxford with body shell production, paint and final assembly.

 

New Vehicle Structure Planning


Intelligent ideas come off the production line non-stop when you have intelligent logistics concepts in place. Because long before our premium vehicles reach the road – delivery of materials from all over the world needs to be set into motion. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a team responsible for the planning of Logistical Structures and Material Flow in Assembly and Painted Body across both Plants Oxford and Swindon. The position is inside the Logistics Planning function, where you will be supporting the Designing and Implementing of new material flow processes and structure concepts on site in Plants Oxford and Swindon.


 WHAT AWAITS YOU?

·       Support the creation and implementation of efficient material flow and structure layout plans and strategies, consistent with lean/VPS principles.

·       Integration and optimisation of complex derivatives in to logistics processes, whilst understanding the cost and available space in the warehousing areas.

·       Using Excel and other software to analyse data, and PowerPoint to present topics to the team and management will be required across topics in daily business.

·       Support with throughput and volume data as well as getting hands on to develop and implement new solutions to improve the competitiveness of the business.

·       Assist in the development of new approaches such as 3D simulation to design future Material Flow and structures within the logistics areas associated with the manufacture of new vehicles

  • Compilation and reporting of Logistics Key figures regarding the plant status on logistics processes, areas, distances manpower and hours per car.
  • You will co-ordinating and improving the office Visual Management systems, and chairing team meetings.
Qualifications

·       Studying towards an Undergraduate Degree in  Engineering  and be on track to achieve a 2:1 standard or higher.

·       Good analytical skills, flexibility to work on various topics at one time and support operational implementations when required is necessary.

·       Some prior knowledge of logistics processes and industry experience would be advantageous; more important is the ability to learn quickly and to bring original ideas on process improvement opportunities to the team and into the business.

·       Candidates should be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of all standard Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel and Powerpoint, some knowledge/exposure to SAP would also be beneficial.

·       Good English, Communication and interpersonal skills are also expected with an ability to summarise topics and present clearly
