Upper Level Systems Specialist
Description
The Upper Level Systems Specialist:
- Administers and maintains Upper Level Systems for the Battery Plant.
- Manages controls and IT interfaces as a key user for all the systems in the controls & process technique team. Upper Level Systems include production control, monitoring and reporting of BMW systems based on Oracle Data collection and SAP.
- Develops design standards and specifications related to Upper Level Systems.
- Plans and implements improvements within Battery Plant related to the specific Upper Level Systems .
- Participates in cross-functional project teams supporting activities for Upper Level Systems.
- Provides planning and technical support related to Upper Level Systems. during the introduction of new models and other projects.
- Coordinates with suppliers to ensure that best programming practices and BMW standards are being utilized consistently and throughout all areas.
- Coordinates with suppliers to ensure that correct software tools and revision control are utilized.
- Ensures proper Upper Level Systems specific documentation delivery from suppliers.
- Develops and maintains user and support documentation for areas of responsibility.
- Provides technical support to Battery Plant groups for resolving Upper Level Systems related issues.
- Interfaces with the IT group to ensure efficient operation of the Battery Plant's systems.
- Facilitates activities relative to IT systems/services and actively serves as a Battery Plant key user.
- Develops HMI and production monitoring screens for automatic line control and maintenance information systems for all Battery Plant operations.
- Steers the Battery Plant Technical Training and Development program by conducting training classes, providing technical documentation, etc.
- Supports Plant / Battery Plant targets and goals for Production, Quality, Safety, Cost, etc.
- Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
- Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related
field or the equivalent of 4 years of IT or Controls experience in a
manufacturing environment (automotive preferred). - 5+ years of experience in Controls programming for automotive
manufacturing. - 3+ years PLC programming for Siemens S7 platform.
- 3+ years HMI/SCADA programming for and Siemens WinCC platform.
- 3+ years Visual Basic Scripting, C, or Java programming.
- 3+ years knowledge of industrial bus systems Profinet.
- 3+ years English language and communication skills.
- 3+ years knowledge of IPS-L, IPS-T (preferred).
- 3+ years PC skills (MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- 1+ years PC hardware troubleshooting, Networking and TCP/IP knowledge.
- 1+ years SAP skills.
- 1+ years SQL (Oracle preferred).
- Basic project management skills.
- Basic Business Administration skills (budgeting, planning, Time Management etc.).
