Paint Shop Materials & Environmental Co-op (Spring 2024)

This is a co-op position which requires three alternating rotations (e. g. 1st rotation: spring, 2nd rotation: fall, 3rd rotation: summer).

The Materials and Planning Co-Op will be responsible for supporting and lead projects to improve quality of processes supporting use of Paint Shop materials. Determine root cause of defects related to process materials within Paint Shop. Paint shop consumes the largest amount of natural resources across the plant; it is crucial to constantly be working on ways to reduce energy consumption and water usage for sustainable production of BMW X-Vehicles. 

 

The Intern should expect to contribute and improve the following: 

• Maintain quality of all materials in paint shop
•  Validate and integrate new materials
• Reduce energy consumption
•  Manage paint suppliers and escalation topics
•  Various production-critical task
•  Launching BMW Individual Colors and Matte Colors
•  Trialing new materials (PVC, wax, clearcoat, etc.)
• Energy reduction projects

 

 

• Engineering Degree
• Knowledge of Thermodynamics (Heat and Mass Transfer)
• Willingness to work in a production environment
• Flexible; good at multitasking and prioritizing
• Good at working with people

• Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

• Have full-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States

• Completed at least 30 credit hours
• Able to complete 3 rotating terms for co-op positions
• Have at least 1 remaining term in school after the completion of the co-op or internship
• Transfer students must have a GPA from current university
• Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term
• MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
• The work term dates are January 16th- May 17th 2024
