Controls Realization Planner Specialist

Description

The Controls Realization Planner Specialist:

  • Plans and realizes the controls portion of projects, both technically and financially.
  • Represents the Painted Body department in the development of controls standards.
  • Leads or participates in projects within the Painted Body department, providing controls planning and support, for equipment modifications and/or installations.
  • Provides technical support within the control functions of the Painted Body department.
  • Works with technical planning partners to develop and maintain controls design standards and specifications, including concept drawings, electrical drawings (EPlan), purchased parts lists, cost calculation sheets (ASE, ELE), commissioning and acceptance documents (EN 60204, 5- Phase Inspection), mechanical/electrical interface documents, etc.
  • Develops controls concept for projects, including but not limited to hardware and software design, OLP#s, SAS, Operator Layout).
  • Oversees the electrical bill of material from the RFQ phase through project completion, including BOM adjustments with suppliers and purchasing if necessary.
  • Coordinates Controls Supplier during engineering and installation phase technically and financially.
  • Assures sufficient manpower internally and externally throughout entire project phase.
  • Provides cost steering and tracking.
  • Collaborates with Procurement to identify and select qualified controls suppliers.
  • Provides technical and project management support related to controls systems (BMW Smart Automation Suite [SAS], Siemens TIA) during the introduction of new models.
  • Ensures safety and controls specifications are met and proper controls specific documentation delivery from the supplier.
  • Participates in cross-functional project teams supporting activities related to controls topics.
  • Plans and implements improvements within Painted Body controls systems to positively affect process capability, system uptime, and reliability.
  • Provides technical support to Painted Body groups resolving controls related issues.
  • Supports the Painted Body Technical Training and Development program by conducting training classes and providing technical documentation.
  • Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
  • Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
  • BS degree in engineering (Electrical/ Mechatronics Engineering preferred) or the equivalent of 4 years of work experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
  • 5+ years of experience with industrial controls and automation (i.e., PLC, robot, communication buses, safety systems, variable frequency/servo drives, pneumatics, etc.).
  • 2+ years of project planning experience in an automated manufacturing environment (automotive preferred).
  • 3+ years of Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • 1+ years of project management skills.
  • 1+ years of controls and automation skills to include Siemens PLC platforms, industrial software, industrial Ethernet networks, TCP/IP, Siemens Line PC hardware, drives, motors, safety systems, troubleshooting, etc.
  • 1+ years of organizational and planning skills (i.e. budgeting, planning, and task and time management).
  • 1+ years of knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems.
  • 1+ years knowledge of SAP.
  • 1+ years German language skills (preferred).
