Quality Management Co-op (Fall 2023))
This is a Co-Op position which requires three alternating rotations (e. g. 1st rotation: Spring, 2nd rotation: Fall, 3rd rotation: Summer).
The Quality Management department is responsible for ensuring that our cars meet all customer expectations and BMW internal requirements. We are the voice of the customer within the plant and are responsible for steering new topics as they occur and actively managing the problem-solving process. We do this in both daily production and new product launches.
Thie Quality Steering Computer Science Co-op will have a mix of daily reporting tasks and project-based work both in the office and hands-on. The co-op can expect to support within the problem-solving landscape and supporting the quality steering team with current topics. They will be involved in root cause analysis, gathering data, establishing containments, process improvements, analyzing data and testing and validation of solutions and poke-yokes. The co-op will see how we monitor and control quality from a high-level perspective as well as be part of problem-solving teams developing and implementing solutions. The co-op will also be responsible for our quality management systems, as well as managing the daily operation of our quality management tools and developing new features and systems as needed. The applications involved range from Oracle/SQL, to PowerBI, VBA/MS Office-based tools and other BMW-specific systems.
The qualified co-op should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:
- Regularly create reports on our current quality landscape.
- Support team in developing, maintaining, and streamlining quality management systems.
- Special projects as assigned.
- Investigate new topics as needed and directed by the team.
- Monitor and investigate sensor data not reported as incidents.
- Support root cause analysis and ensure defect part availability.
- Management of the Plant 10 quality steering dashboard.
- Data analysis of Plant 10 quality metrics.
- Management of Plant 10 quality steering module matrix.
- Pursuing degree in MIS or Computer Science.
- Structured problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of relational database concepts and familiarity with SQL.
- Tie practical application of business practices into special IT oriented projects.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of VBA and Macros.
- General understanding of automotives and the industry.
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
- Have full-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
- Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
- Ability to complete 3 alternating work terms for Co-op positions.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours / week).
- Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
- MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT.
- Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
- The WORK TERM DATES are August 14th- December 15th, 2023.
