Manufacturing Sustainability and Efficiency Intern (Fall 2023)

The Manufacturing Sustainability and Efficiency Intern will identify and implement “green” initiatives within Body Shop facilities and processes to aid in achieving BMW’s sustainability goals for the future. They will work with Process Specialists and Equipment Services team members to identify, coordinate, and implement process improvements to reduce equipment downtime and improve process cycle-time.

The qualified intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

• Learn and understand the daily business of the Body Shop and manufacturing processes.
• Analyze and evaluate current processes, identifying opportunities for sustainability and efficiency improvements.
• Present findings and develop a strategy for implementation.
• Develop a network of colleagues to aid in completion of objectives.
• Identify and implement sustainability initiatives.
• Identify and implement equipment performance improvement initiatives.
• Identify cost-saving initiatives within the manufacturing areas.
   

• Pursing a degree in Industrial (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering.
• Innovation and problem-solving mindset.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
• Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
• Have full-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
• Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
• Ability to complete 3 alternating work terms for co-op positions. 
• Ability to work full-time (40 hours / week).
• Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
• MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. 
• Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term. 
• THE WORK TERM DATES ARE August 14th, 2023 to December 15th, 2023.
