Description

The Manufacturing Systems and Strategic Volume Planning Intern will assist the Production Control Department, which is responsible for steering Plant Spartanburg’s production volume on a long term, short term and daily level, while maintaining an optimized production system.  The department is integrated into all aspects of BMW’s manufacturing strategies. 

The Production Control department is divided into three main areas:
•    Supporting strategic planning and reporting to Senior Management.
•    Order Planning: sequences customer orders by adhering to assembly and supplier restrictions.
•    Program Planning: works with different areas of the Plant to develop the daily production targets.
•    Vehicle Control: manages the vehicle sequence throughout the plant.
 

The qualified intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

•    Supporting the continuous improvement of departmental processes
•    Designing reporting tools to improve data analysis.
•    Supporting the production system.
•    Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business relations.
•    Reporting KPI data for Plant management.
 

Qualifications
  • Pursuing a degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Logistics, Management, Engineering, Finance, Data analytics.
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
  • Have full-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
  • Ability to complete 3 alternating work terms for co-op positions. 
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours / week).
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
  • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. 
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term. 
  • THE WORK TERM DATES ARE August 14, 2023 to December 15, 2023.
