Intern, Technical Service Electrical or Mechanical
This is a full-time internship position for a Spring Rotation, expected to start around March 20, 2023 through September 15, 2023 in Woodcliff Lake, NJ.
Technical Service department is responsible for supporting our dealers with technical information and solutions to maximize dealer efficiency. We create, communicate and implement timely solutions to improve product quality in an ever-changing global market. We provide resolutions to product issues in a manner that fulfills expectations of all customer of the Technical Service Department. By continuing to evaluate the service process and work to improve efficiency and create improved forms of information delivery to our customers.
The intern will support the Technical Service Department for the US-Market.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting with coordination and completion of various analytical projects
- Data analysis to report new issues and compile power points for reporting to management or product engineers
- Provide resolutions to product issues in a manner that fulfills expectations of customers of the Technical Service Department
- Assisting in project planning, report development using data management tools, communicating results to Management, and enhancements of existing data tools and other relevant duties as assigned.
- An opportunity to learn about the BMW aftersales processes and tools as you will be working with various teams within Technical service.
- Support Product Engineers with ISTA vehicle programing verifications and diagnosing/evaluating vehicles (confirm correctness of repair instructions)
- Provide quality analysis, evaluation of warranty data and troubleshooting on vehicles and parts
- Organize the topics for Premium Diagnosis improvement and following up with Munich on various diagnosis and test plan topics

- Currently enrolled in a bachelor or master’s degree program at an accredited college or university
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
- Have completed at least 30 college credit hours at time of application (year 3 or 4)
- Major: Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, preferred concentration: Automotive
- Basic knowledge of E-mobility, Electronic and/or Powertrain
- Understanding of vehicle systems and components.
- Strong Excel skill including macros.
- Prior BMW Group experience (applicable to international students only)
- Must attach a copy of college unofficial transcript
- Ability to work full-time (36.25 hours/week)
- Excellent time-management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Self-motivated, adaptable to a dynamic environment
- Detail oriented and strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical capabilities
Preferences
- Prior internship and/or relevant work experience
- Languages: English (fluent, oral and written)
