Controls Planner
The Controls Planner:
- Responsible for project planning, commissioning and ramp-up, as well as provides engineering support of new installations and optimization measures for the controls of conveyor and equipment technology.
- Plans controls for technical equipment within Planning.
- Evaluates concepts with technical and financial focus and recommends changes according to the BMW Group standards.
- Plans with technical planning partners and maintains controls design standards and specifications, including concept drawings, electrical drawings (EPlan), purchased parts lists, cost calculation sheets, commissioning and acceptance documents and mechanical/electrical interface documents.
- Collaborates with procurement to identify and select qualified controls suppliers.
- Provides technical and project management support related to controls systems during the introduction of new models.
- Ensures safety and controls specifications are met and proper controls- specific documentation delivery from the supplier.
- Participates in cross-functional project teams supporting activities related to controls topics.
- Plans and implements improvements within Body Shop controls systems to positively affect process capability, system uptime, and reliability.
- Provides technical support to Body Shop groups resolving controls related issues.
- Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
- Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.

- BS degree in engineering (Electrical/ Mechatronics Engineering preferred) OR the equivalent of 4 years of work experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
- 2+ years of experience with industrial controls and automation (i.e. PLC, robot, communication buses, safety systems, variable frequency/servo drives and pneumatics).
- 2 years of project planning experience in automated manufacturing environment (automotive preferred).
- 3+ years of computer skills (MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- 2+ years of project management skills.
- 2+ years of control and automation skills to include Siemens PLC platforms, industrial software, Ethernet networks, TCP/IP, PC hardware, drives, motors, safety systems, troubleshooting, etc.
- 2+ years of business administration skills (i.e. budgeting, planning, task and time management).
- 2+ years of knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Basic knowledge of SAP.
- German language skills (preferred).
