THE FUTURE IS WHAT WE CREATE WHEN WE TAKE OUR VISIONS TO THE LIMITS.
PHD AT THE BMW GROUP.
Bridging the gap between your doctoral studies and the kind of career challenge you’re looking for isn’t always easy. That’s why our ProMotion PhD programme gives you the opportunity to apply your passion and scientific expertise to very real challenges that could shape the future of mobility. If selected, you’ll have the chance to really develop your own future career path with us through your practice-related thesis, promote your chosen specialty from within – and position yourself to secure the career you’ve always wanted.
We, the BMW Group, offer you an interesting and varied Ph.D. program in the area of Generative AI and Large Language Models.
With the rise of Language Model Learning, there is significant potential to enhance the ability of virtual assistants to fill in gaps that humans can naturally comprehend. Your research will be integral to understanding and improving planning (chain of thought, self-prompting), and reasoning within language and multimodal models.
What awaits you?
- Conduct research into planning/ self-prompting techniques to elicit extra details and reasoning from language models, thereby mimicking human-like thought processes.
- Design algorithms to reason over multiple API outputs for tasks typical of personal virtual assistants.
- Collaborate with team members to create a benchmark dataset that evaluates the effectiveness of virtual assistants in various scenarios.
- Investigate and develop methods to enhance the ability of LLMs to "fill in blanks" through empathetic responses and contextual understanding.
- Present findings in team meetings and contribute to research publications as necessary.
What should you bring along?
- Successfully completed Masters (university) degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field.
- Strong background in deep learning, natural language processing, and machine learning.
- Strong coding skills in programming languages such as Python, and familiarity with deep learning frameworks, e.g., Tensorflow, Pytorch, Langchain.
- Knowledge of Foundation Models such as Transformers, LLaMA, LeoLM and self-prompting methods, e.g., BabyAGI, AutoGPT
- Willingness to implement LLM developments in an industrial environment.
- Very good knowledge of English is required, knowledge of German is a plus.
What do we offer?
- Comprehensive mentoring & onboarding.
