Their insights from the data we collect today are what we use to create the transportation of tomorrow. 

Vehicle generated data are a fundamental enabler for the digital transformation of the BMW Group. There is a strong growing demand for those data in various business units for digital connected services and analytics & AI use cases like MyBMW app, charging services, predictive maintenance, quality analysis.

The Vehicle Data Collection (VDC) backend systems receive, interpret, normalize and consolidate (Vehicle Shadow) all relevant vehicle generated data from more than 17 mio. vehicles and deliver the data in real-time to various data consumers strictly fulfilling all relevant data privacy regulations. Our VDC backend has to deal with highest throughput requirements, that are unique for the BMW Group. It is based on leading edge cloud-native architectures and SW solutions.

The product Vehicle Data Collection Offboard consists of several sub-products that are responsible for conception, development and operations of data use cases, data transformers, and data delivery and are supported by an internal development platform team.

What awaits you?

• You come along with passion to shape and optimize your product which is influenced by a volatile and ambiguous business environment.
• You proactively contribute to the product vision and perform the high level design of requirements you are agreeing with company-wide and international stakeholders. You identify product improvements, address them to your team and take care that they are delivered properly.
• You participate in early phases of vehicle projects and define future vehicle’s data collection capabilities.
• You take care for delivering features according to product roadmap, refining and prioritizing the backlog as well as developing and operating services (24/7) together with your teams.
• With your services based on cloud technology you ensure the collection and delivery of real-time vehicle data to data consumers.
• You are a member of an innovative team of cloud and SW engineering experts which drive innovation of our digital product and services.
• You closely collaborate in cross functional teams with product owners, DevOps-teams, architects and data / function engineers.

What you should bring along?

• University degree in Computer Science, (Software) Engineering or a comparable field of study.
• +5 years as a professional working in large IT projects as product owner or cloud/ devops engineer.
• Fundamental SW engineering and technical skills esp. in the area of stream processing & monitoring.
• In-depth knowledge agile development, cloud architecture & technologies (preferrably AWS), DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, CI/CD, reactive design principles.
• Fluent English language skills, German language skills are a plus.
