Quality Steering Co-Op (Summer 2025)
Description:
The Quality Management department is responsible for ensuring that our cars meet all customer expectations and BMW internal requirements. We are the voice of the customer within the plant and are responsible for steering new topics as they occur and actively managing the problem-solving process. We do this in both daily production and new product launches.
The co-op will have a mix of regular reporting tasks and project-based work in office and hands-on settings. The co-op will be responsible for regularly reporting on our problem-solving landscape and supporting the quality steering team with their current topics. They will be involved in root cause analysis, gathering data, establishing containments, process improvements, analyzing data and testing and validation of solutions and poke-yokes. This position will allow the student to see how we monitor and control quality from a high-level perspective as well as be part of problem-solving teams developing and implementing solutions.
The qualified intern/Co-op should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:
- Regularly create reports on our current quality landscape.
- Investigate new topics as needed and directed by the team.
- Monitor and investigate sensor data not reported as incidents.
- Support root cause analysis and ensure defect part availability.
- Support team with streamlining of reporting requirements.
- Special projects as assigned.
- Management of the plant 10 quality steering dashboard.
- Data analysis of Plant 10 quality metrics
- Management of plant 10 quality steering module matrix.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering/ Mechanical Engineer or similar degree
- Structured Problem-Solving Skills
- Excel - Advanced level
- VBA Programming
- General Automotive understanding. Must commit to three co-op rotations as an enrolled student.
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
- Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
- Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
- Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
- Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
- MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT.
- Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
