Description 

  • Coordinates the launches and changes of electrical and electronic hardware/software systems at Plant Spartanburg. Ensures the successful introduction of technical content through internal product communication, supporting validation activities, integration of E/E content into the series production environment, and the management and quality assurance of changes to the bill of material (BOM). Collaborates actively with all levels of associates and management in each relevant department to achieve targets.
  • Utilizes quality management system tools to develop processes, procedures and practices which support the resolution of complex or unusual problems.
  • Demonstrates a solution-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Provides regular updates of all open issues/status to supervisor/project leader to ensure all activities are completed on time and within the target framework.
  • Maintains compliance with the Plant Management System through appropriate training and awareness.
  • Coordinates activities to achieve department, plant/project goals and targets.
  • Commits to continuous improvement and support of departmental systems and processes.
  • Coordinates and plans the implementation of software or E/E hardware for current and new derivatives.Processes and evaluates engineering change content within assigned area for relevance, impact, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Initiates subsequent corrective measures.
  • Collaborates with project teams including global process partners, to determine the impact of the change and the earliest possible implementation date using appropriate systems, change management tools (i.e., SWL cockpit, LTERM) and plant forums.
  • Ensures timely completion of NSG (non-series) car/components/line trial validation activities and integration of the change into series production.
  • Supports process partners on engineering release issues/questions and Change Management systems and processes.
  • Aligns with functional specialists and process integrators in the integration of new derivatives/ model year measures.
  • Communicates project status regarding content, milestones, and achievement of goals/targets.
  • Conducts root cause analysis and implements corrective measures and innovative improvements to the systems/processes within the department.
  • Ensures successful validation and on-time delivery to customers through accurate planning and steering of validation cars/components and cross functional teams.
  • Acts as an interface partner for E/E process planning for the assigned production areas.
  • Supports the functional specialists and process integrators in the integration of new derivatives/ model year measures.
  • Ensures timely integration of the agreed product content within the agreed costs and quality objectives.
  • Organizes cross-functional teams by ensuring efficient communication within the team regarding content and ensuring that timelines are transparent and achieved.
  • Develops supply chain milestones and coordinates and steers the implementation of milestones.
  • Ensures correct parts or software for build and validation activities are delivered in the correct quantity, at the correct time, to the correct place (including all parts whether directly sourced, sequenced, or created in-house).
  • Acts as a first escalation level for parts integration issues and utilizes available escalation paths to ensure support and action when required.
  • Supports the problem-solving process of process-relevant errors within the framework of problem management and other locations.
  • Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
  • Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications 

  • BS degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Electrical preferred)

OR

  • AS degree is a related field AND 2 years of relevant professional experience in automotive/vehicle electrical systems analysis and testing.

OR

  • 4 years of relevant professional experience in automotive/vehicle electrical systems analysis and testing.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in automotive/vehicle electrical systems analysis and testing.
  • 2+ years business or technical experience.
  •  HV2 training (preferred). 
  • Certified Quality Engineer or Six Sigma Black Belt (preferred). 
  • 3+ years of MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint,SharePoint, Access).
  • 2+ years German language skills (preferred).
  • 2+ years knowledge of E/E specific knowledge.
  • 2+ years of interpersonal/communication skills.
  • 1+ years of documentation, report writing and presentation development skills.
  • 1+ years of ability to read, interpret and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • 1+ years knowledge of BMW Group Systems such as SWL, TAIS, LTERM, SAP Logistics / Procurement (preferred).
  • 1+ years of demonstrated ability to manage complex systems and problem solving.
  • 1+ years knowledge of overall department and company mission(preferred).
  • 1+ years knowledge of BMW ItO Launch Processes (preferred).
  • 1+ years of ability to develop processes with internal & external organizations associated to department targets.
