BMW Group Plant Hams Hall is a modern, state-of-the-art engine manufacturing facility, located just outside Birmingham, UK. Producing the latest generation of three and four cylinder petrol engines, and precision machining key engine components, the plant has recently celebrated 20 years of successful production. Operating seven days a week, with more than one engine rolling off the line per minute, the plant plays a key role in BMW Group’s global production network, supplying engines for BMW and MINI, including some of the latest plug-in hybrid vehicles.
BMW Hams Hall, Birmingham – Logistics Role – 13 Month Placement (July 2025)
We have several placements within the logistics department including one Logistics Planning Internship and one Physical Logistic Interns.
We are looking for a student to join our Logistics Planning team for 13 months commencing July 2025. The role will involve supporting the Logistics Planning team in developing new projects, identifying and implementing process improvements and integration complex engine systems. Our department shapes the future of Plant Hams Hall and ensures its sustainability for the next 100 years. Communication is one of our key enablers and we collaborate with our strong community across the BMW network. We are always looking for innovative people who can think differently.

We are looking for a placement student to join our Physical Logistics team for 13 months commencing July 2025. Our function is responsible for providing the right parts at the right time to our manufacturing colleagues, as well as managing the storage of our finished major units in our automatic warehouses. The role will involve supporting the Logistics Operations team in running the department, focusing on continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, problem resolution and identifying and implementing process improvements.
What awaits you?
- Process and data analysis.
- Preparation and support of daily operational reviews.
- Evaluation of PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act System) and associated tools.
- Running FMEA and Risk Analysis.
- Support Logistics Planning with the design and implementation of Logistical Operations processes.
- Working on projects surrounding the improvement of communications and health and safety procedures within the Physical Logistics warehouses.
Qualifications and Experience
- Studying towards a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or other relevant field and on track to achieve a 2:2 or above.
- Experience with, or willingness to learn, data visualisation tools.
- Ability to cooperate and work well within a team.
- A willingness to learn as well as to teach.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
